How to Log a Test Result in Reefability, and Fix a Wrong One

Add a water test in the Chemistry section by hand or from a photo, see where it shows up, and edit or delete a reading you entered by mistake.

You log a water test in the Chemistry section: type the value by hand, or scan a photo of your test card or controller screen. Every reading lands on its parameter card, on the Chemistry card on Home, and in that parameter's reading log, where you can edit or delete it later.

Log a reading by hand

  1. On Home, tap the Chemistry card (or View Details on it) to open the Chemistry section.
  2. Tap the + at the top right. The Log a reading screen opens.
  3. Under OR ENTER ONE BY HAND, tap the parameter you tested, for example Alkalinity.
  4. Set the value with the - and + buttons, or tap the number (tap to type) and type it, for example 8.07.
  5. If the parameter has more than one unit, tap the unit your kit uses (for example dKH or meq/L). The app converts it for you.
  6. Under Source, pick Test kit, Controller or ICP. For a test kit, choose it under Which kit?. The app remembers your kit for each parameter.
  7. Check Taken. It starts at now; tap it to pick the date and time you actually ran the test.
  8. Add a Note if you like. Notes show up in the reading log.
  9. Tap Save reading.

Shortcut: the + on any parameter card, or tapping a parameter on the Home Chemistry card, opens Log a reading for that parameter.

Scan a photo of your results

Photo and voice logging are part of Premium. If your plan does not include them, tapping either one opens the plans screen.

  1. In Chemistry, tap the camera icon at the top, or Scan a photo on the Log a reading screen.
  2. The first time, a short guide explains what works best: fill the frame, keep the value sharp, avoid glare. Tap Got it, open the camera.
  3. Tap TAKE PHOTO, or LIBRARY to use a photo you already have. One photo can hold one result or a whole card or controller dashboard.
  4. The app reads the values and lists them. Check each one against your test, and tap a number to correct it. Untick anything you do not want saved.
  5. Tap Confirm (the button shows how many readings will be saved).

Nothing is saved until you confirm. You can also tap Tell (followed by your assistant's name) and say your results out loud, for example "Calcium 430, alk 8.07". You confirm those values the same way.

Import past results on the Log a reading screen brings in older tests from a PDF, Excel, CSV or Word file (also Premium).

Where your readings show up

  • Chemistry: each parameter card shows your newest value, a status pill against your ideal range, and a chart you can switch between time ranges from 1D to 1Y.
  • Home: the Chemistry card shows your latest readings at a glance.
  • Reading log: tap the arrow on a parameter card to open its detail screen. The Reading log lists every entry for that parameter, newest first, with its source, time and any note.

Edit or delete a wrong entry

  1. In Chemistry, tap the arrow on the parameter's card.
  2. Scroll to Reading log and find the entry.
  3. To change the value, tap the pencil icon, type the right number in the Edit box and tap Save.
  4. To remove it, tap the trash icon. The app asks Delete this reading? Tap Delete to remove it from your history, or Keep it to back out.

Editing changes the value only. If the date or time is wrong, delete the entry and log it again with the right Taken time. A deleted reading cannot be brought back.

If something does not work

  • "Could not save the reading. Try again." The app could not reach the server. Check your connection and try again.
  • The photo read a value wrong. Tap the number on the confirm screen to correct it, or untick it and enter it by hand.
  • The camera or microphone opens the plans screen. Those are Premium features. Logging by hand stays free.
